S.T: What is your main objective with Alves? Is it your true purpose?

J.A: I feel that with my true life purpose and my objective with Alves, is to simply give.
And when I give, I’m not talking about a product that will be good for one moment and gone the next. I’m talking about giving a part of me with this product, my heart, my soul comes with. For my objective, my goal is for the product to completely outlive my existence here on earth. I am a story teller and with all the pieces I’ve ever created, they’ve come with a story, passed down with a new extended story from the consumer to the next and so on….
For example my memory bear service is a great contribution to my act of giving, for one to give me their sentimental clothing from a loved one in their life who has passed. To trust and build a new connection with me, share memorable stories and then for me to reconstruct this into a timeless bear, shares a sincere deep-ful meaning of giving for me.

S.T: Where do you look for creative inspiration?

J.A: I do not look, I just feel.
From Aldous Huxley, this quote has been installed in me for many years
‘’ Experience is not what happens to a man; it is what a man does with what happens to him.’’
So the creative inspiration lays with my personal interactions with life. The joy, pleasures, the sorrow, the hurt, the emotions I feel. And we can not forget our great history and understanding all cultures, the past is who we are today. All of this information I keep is developed and transformed in a creative way. It’s my healing.

You have to have a personal meaning to everything you do and question is it real. And believe.
