Shooting into the light without a lens hood is tough... Sunset at Pico do Arieiro was perfect. Above the clouds, the world just slowed down — golden light on the peaks, and the sky was on fire. One of those rare moments where everything was soothing — timing, weather, and wonder.

As the city glows and glasses clink—Port and people shine in the blue hour.

Third time lucky—barely. I returned to Fanal Forest three times; the first two were under harsh blue skies. On my final visit, I had just 90 minutes, and most shots were spoiled by water droplets. These ancient laurel trees, remnants of a 20-million-year-old subtropical forest, turn mist into rain and the clouds into chaos. Magical, but maddening to photograph.

Veu da Noiva is one of Madeira’s most iconic waterfalls, cascading dramatically into the Atlantic. Once part of the legendary ER101 coastal road, the route was closed after landslides, but you can still view this breathtaking sight from the nearby miradouro. A reminder of the island’s wild beauty and how nature reclaims its space.

Sunrise is the best time to catch this beautiful spectacle as the morning glow catches the water from the side.
