A book that has been on my mind and by my bedside table is...

"The Innovator's Dilemma".

This chunky, 336-page book by Clayton Christensen explores why businesses fail...

Even though they appear to be thriving in their sector and industry.

This idea struck me because we often assume that big corporations will stay forever in the market.

But, often, those seemly permanent residents disappear.

Why does that happen?

Lack of innovation.

The book introduces the concept of a "disruptive innovation", where new products and services can enter markets with lower price points and greater value propositions:

These innovations start in smaller markets and then grow, overtaking the established players who have failed to innovate.

This is a critical lesson for every business:

You must always be looking ahead at what's next and building up your capabilities around new technologies and emerging trends.

Now that I think about it, it doesn’t apply only to businesses but also to individuals. 🙎‍♂️
