“I Am Not Jesus” is an art project in which artist .qishta dismantles the symbolism of the savior to confront the reality of Palestinian present.
a dark, circular composition, a Palestinian figure stands trapped within a black background that mirrors the isolation and siege of her people, wearing a prayer robe adorned with golden patterns as a sign of identity and belonging.
‏The wound on the body—often read as a symbol of redemption—here becomes the mark of direct violence caused by occupation and blockade, stripped of any meaning of sacrifice or salvation. The green light piercing the forehead is not divine illumination but the act of targeting and sniping, reminding us that the Palestinian, like Christ two thousand years ago, remains hunted and crucified without justice.

It is a visual testimony rejecting the transformation of Palestinian suffering into a religious myth; it is not a sacred destiny but a daily, inherited struggle. In this way, the series becomes a visual and philosophical confrontation with an unbroken legacy of injustice: from the crucifixion of the Palestinian Christ to the genocide in Gaza, from the trials of the past to today’s blockade, from historical betrayal to contemporary international silence.
