Crooked tiles glimmer with symbols of greens, blacks, and burnt reds.
Calk replaced by strangers we’d never meet.
Lead added to their imperfections. Quarter sized craters sprinkled sparingly.
Those on the walls plastered and covered in white paint.
Broom, bleach, mop, and sweat. I found some red would not come out.
And on that tile we laid our hearts.
Decorated it with new memories.
We knew it would never look perfect but we cleaned it all the same.

Inktober day one!
The prompt was: Mustache. I thought of the wings of a Seraphim. More of a shape and texture inspiration for this first one. 🖤 Been meaning to get back into posting for a while and I figure Inktober would be a good start.
