Congratulations to former RISE trainee Jonathan Lopez for his renewal as an American Physiological Society Porter Fellow and being awarded a Martin Frank Diversity Travel Award to attend the APS Summit 2025 in Baltimore this week!

We are proud to acknowledge the participation of our amazing trainees, Luinet Meléndez (3rd) year and Yadiel Rivera (4th year), in the 2025 AACR Runners for Research 5K Run/Walk 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ held on Saturday, April 26, in Chicago, Illinois.

Luinet and Yadiel are currently attending the AACR Annual Meeting (April 25–30) in Chicago, where they will also be presenting their scientific research 🧬🧪.

Their involvement in this 5K highlights their dedication not only to advancing cancer science but also to supporting the mission beyond the conference halls.

By joining this inspiring event—bringing together AACR members, annual meeting attendees, and local runners—they contributed to a meaningful cause: advancing lifesaving cancer research 🎗️.

Shoutout to our amazing Director, Dr. Caroline Appleyard, and our awesome students for representing us at this year’s APS Summit, hosted by the American Physiological Society!
