Throwback to the 1959 Candidates tournament: Paul Keres and 16-year old Bobby Fischer are making the opening moves of a sharp Najdorf Sicilian. Keres tried a rare and risky idea involving a queen sacrifice, but the young American kept his cool and scored an important victory.

The event took place in the cities of Bled, Zagreb and Belgrade of former Yugoslavia and was won by Mikhail Tal, who went on to become World Champion by defeating Mikhail Botvinnik in the subsequent match in 1960.
