Day without meat | Dzień bez mięsa.
This day was promoted in the times of the People's Republic of Poland (PRL), but not for health reasons, but due to its low availability (w związku z jego niską dostępnością). The idea was born in 1985 in the USA on the initiative of the FARM - Farm Animal Rights Movement, promoting animal protection and a vegan diet. The organizers emphasize (podkreślają) the benefits of eliminating meat from the menu, to reduce the risk of heart disease (zmniejszenie ryzyka chorób serca) and strokes (wylewów).
In addition (dodatkowo), there are ethical considerations (względy etyczne), for example: a positive impact on the environment (środowisko), protection of animals and nature. For this reason, the Day without Meat coincides (zbiega się) with the beginning of spring (z początkiem wiosny), when nature awakens to life (przyroda budzi się do życia).
It is estimated (szacuje się) that over 10% of the world's population does not eat meat. Areas of the world where abstinence (wstrzemięźliwość) from meat is recommended (zalecane) or mandated by religion or culture (nakazane przez religię lub kulturę), such as in Buddhism and Hinduism, contribute to (przyczyniają się) this number.
Many years of research (badań) have shown that vegetarians live on average (średnio) several (kilka) years longer than meat lovers, but it is not clear (nie jest to jasne) whether (czy) this is due to the diet itself or the active lifestyle that these people usually lead (prowadzą). Providing (zapewnienie) the body with all the nutrients (składniki odżywcze) requires a lot of attention and culinary discipline.
