The soul of the country can be found through its food. Here are 5 tasty bits you can’t miss in Poznań.

1.🍲 Żurek: Polish white borscht served in a bread bowl. A bit of a show-stopper to start our meal. This hearty soup is made with a variety of ingredients, including Polish kiełbasy (sausages), egg, and local herbs and spices.

2.🥟 Everyone has heard of the famous pierogi, ‘Polish dumplings’. Classic fillings include potatoes with onion, or mixed meat, but the secret is actually in the toppings. You can choose from butter, sour cream or ‘skwarki’, which is basically bacon and pork crackling. Are we hungry yet?

3.🥞 Naleśniki: Polish crepes. Every family claims to have their own special idiot-proof recipe, but one thing is always true - the first crepe is always doomed to be the ugly one. Like with other types of crepe, these can be served savoury or sweet.

4.🍰 Everyone has a separate stomach for dessert, and here we offer sernik: Polish baked cheesecake. Pro tip: the runaway favourite flavour of the season is undoubtedly the colourful pistachio!

5.🥐 Let’s end with a festival treat! Rogal świętomarciński (St. Martin’s croissant) - this pastry is a specialty of the Wielkopolskie region. Traditional fillings include white poppy seed, almond, and crushed or dried fruits. Be prepared to go all day after one of these rich delicacies.
