Academy for Responsible Development

On 19-24 November 2023, an international evaluation and dissemination meeting of partners and youth took place.
During the meeting, the partners discussed topics important from the point of view of the project and took part in the 8th Open Eyes Economy Summit.
Additionally, on 22-nd November 2023, representatives of the partners: 💁‍♀️𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝗦𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘃𝘀𝗸𝗮 – Jump IN (Italy),

💁‍♀️ 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝘇𝘆𝗻ńska - FGAP took part in the OEES special session "How to generate social energy in 𝑬𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒎𝒖𝒔+ projects".
Academy graduates from Poland, Turkey and Italy took part in an integration meeting, a creative city game, training on Video content in social media, OEES and an evaluation meeting.

What is the Polish Plastic Pact, and why is it worth joining?

The Polish Plastic Pact is an initiative aimed at reducing plastic consumption and its negative impact on the environment in Poland. It is an agreement between businesses, non-governmental organizations, public institutions, and other entities that commit to reducing plastic waste production, promoting recycling, and seeking alternative, more environmentally friendly materials.
It is worth joining the Polish Plastic Pact because it has the potential to improve the state of the natural environment in Poland significantly. By taking collective actions across various sectors, it is possible to reduce the amount of plastic produced and consumed within the country more effectively. Joining the pact also provides the opportunity to exchange experiences, benefit from the expertise of other entities, and collectively develop solutions for environmental protection.

The benefits of participating in the Polish Plastic Pact may include increased environmental awareness, improved company image as a company committed to environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, and potential financial gains from more efficient waste management.

During the online meeting, the participants of the Academy in Poland's Zero Waste module learned a bit about its goals and benefits.

How do young people learn about zero waste?

Zero Waste is becoming increasingly popular among young people who want to reduce the amount of waste generated and take care of our planet. The Responsible Development Academy comes to help in learning and educating in this direction, with one of its modules dedicated to Zero Waste. Joining the academy is not only about education but also a significant dose of motivation and inspiration through participation in workshops, hackathons, and discussions with experts.

The Academy of Responsible Development was established to actively involve the younger generation in actions related to designing a world based on non-economic values and shaping young leaders of responsible change.

In the face of the climate crisis, there is a need to strengthen education and raise awareness among young people towards making responsible and conscious choices, which will ultimately better prepare young leaders for conscious and active participation in socio-economic life and democratic society.

Practical knowledge and new competencies
Among the competencies increasingly desired and necessary for the future in a dynamic and changing world are social and global awareness, critical thinking, flexibility and willingness to learn, creativity, entrepreneurship, collaboration, time management, and stress management. Within the Academy of Responsible Development, courses are held from October to June 2024 in Poland, Turkey, and Italy, equipping young people with practical knowledge valued by employers and new competencies, allowing them to build networks, and increasing awareness of the challenges of responsible development.

In October 2023, the first course, "Competencies of the Future," was launched by the Foundation for Public Administration and Economics.

Applications for participation in the course were open to individuals aged 16 to 30. As part of the project, young people participated in a series of masterclass meetings, panel discussions, or expert lectures. Prof. Maria Urbaniec from the University of Economics in Krakow delivered a lecture on "Competencies for Sustainable Development," discussing the skills needed by the planet. Another lecture, "Instructions for Spaceship Earth," was delivered by Prof. Stanisław Mazur, the rector of the University of Economics in Krakow. The lectures also focused on careers. Rafał Sułkowski, the president of the Management Board of the Małopolska Social Economy Fund, talked about "Career and Business Pivots," while Bartosz Józefowski, the Deputy Director for Industry 4.0 at the Krakow Technology Park, discussed "Impact Start-ups," entrepreneurship that positively changes the world.

Academy for Responsible Development Project Meeting Started in Krakow
The final transnational project meeting for the "Academy for Responsible Development" kicked off in Krakow on November 20. This project, focusing on increasing youth awareness and commitment to sustainable development, has made significant strides with its innovative e-learning tool for youth workers.
Participants from Poland, Italy, Turkey, and the Netherlands, totalling 25, convened to evaluate the project’s progress and discuss dissemination strategies. This collaborative effort emphasizes enhancing sustainable development education and is expected to influence future youth-driven initiatives in responsible development globally.
