A complex proximal femur fracture is a type of hip fracture that occurs at the upper end of the thighbone (femur) near the hip joint. It is considered complex due to its multiple fragments, comminution (bone breaking into small pieces), and displacement of the fragments, which can make surgical treatment challenging. Complex proximal femur fractures often result from high-energy trauma, such as car accidents, falls from a height, or osteoporotic fractures. Treatment options may include surgical intervention, such as internal fixation with plates, screws, or nails, or replacement of the hip joint with an artificial prosthesis. Proper management is important to minimize complications and ensure a good outcome.

Osteoporosis is a disease that weakens bones and makes them more likely to break. It is often referred to as a "silent disease" because it can develop without any symptoms. Symptoms of osteoporosis may include a stooped posture, a loss of height, and fractures from minor falls.
