A fructuous and deeply insightful session concluded today with collaborative efforts of Prime Minister Youth Development Centre and Youth General Assembly!
Our event “Environmental Accountability: Legal Tools for Protecting Our Ecosystems” brought together two remarkable minds Mr. Kamran Shakoor (Managing Director YGA) as Moderator and Mr. Rafay Alam ( renowned environmental lawyer) for an impactful discussion on Pakistan’s environmental legislative landscape.
The entire legislative framework available in Pakistan for addressing environmental issues was explored. Mr. Rafay Alam fortified the dialogue with historical contexts of environmental law, tracing its roots from the East India Company era to the momentum it gained post World War II, and how it has evolved into the legal structure we rely on today.
The session also highlighted the authorities responsible for environmental protection and regulation across Pakistan, followed by a critical analysis of the existing and old framework, including its strengths and gaps.
