Chilam Joshi Festival Kalash 13-17 May - a one of its kind celebrations to welcome the spring by Kalasha community in Chitral. It starts from The Rumbur valley of Kalash, then move on to other valleys and ends with grand finale in Bumburat Valley, which I was lucky enough to attend.

Kalasha communities have interesting traditions which makes them a strong community. It is showing in 4th photo that they are holding on to each other with a rope or a piece of cloth or even holding each other, which depicts their strong community. It is a symbol of unity, loyalty to each other and staying conncted.

One of their traditions on Chilam Joshi Festival is the source of smiles on unmarried boys and girls faces who participate in the festival to find their life partners. Girls send a proposal to the boy through friend or a cousin and if the boy accepts then they announce at the end of the event. This comes as really beautiful tradition to start their new life journey togather.
