The first iPhone only had 128MB of memory, and because the apps were incomplete, they were all large and bloated. As a result, the phone frequently ran out of memory and had to be restarted to free up the RAM. To get around this constraint, Jobs swapped multiple iPhones on stage when they ran out of RAM.
