"The crisp autumn air, the warm feeling of women from my community around me, sipping their tea, radiating positivity and comparing their sample patches of threadwork to share their ideas and receive feedback, it finally sunk in how far we have come along. Having been born and raised in Chitral, I have seen and heard it all. It gives me a sense of immense pride that I lead a community of workers in my hometown who work tirelessly based on their talent and skill of threadwork to fulfill timely orders of the company we work for.
Knowing our work is worn by women all around Pakistan gives us an identity, a voice, a sense of achievement like never before. Being able to work from the comfort of our homes, at our own pace, on largely our own terms is what enables us to be where we are today. Productive, content, happy in our own skins and living in the moment like never before."

"Have you ever wondered what it is like walking through a Kachi Abadi with hundreds of eyes following every step you take, whispering amongst them where you might be going, asking your parents after you have left to keep an eye on you? I have. I lived that reality every single day just like many girls in Pakistan do. The lack of access to safe and reliable commute for women in Pakistan is perhaps amongst the most significant hurdles we face in regard to mobility even when it is to support our family.
Being the only child of my ailing parents, gaining access to company provided safe pick and drop services to and from my doorstep has enabled me to become the sole breadwinner for my family. The sense of job security and peace of mind I have from a job that I enjoy has not only enabled me to commute securely but has allowed me to save up over the past many years to shift to a modest yet sufficient house of my own with my parents who have never been more proud."

They call me Submissive.
Staring stereotype right in the eye has become a norm for me.
What they don’t know is that I go by the name of strength as well. Of faith. Of resilience.
Empowerment to me is being able to dress as conservatively as I like, yet being bolder, more outgoing and more ambitious than people perceive me to be.
A billion shades to define me, after all, not everything is black and white.

They call me Empathy.
Perhaps they base it on the fact that I just pay more attention to what people are feeling, tuning in to their subtle emotions.
What they don’t know is that I go by the name of resilience as well. Of courage. Of strength.
Empowerment to me is being able to dress as boldly as I like, yet being shyer, softer and more feminine than people perceive me to be.
A billion shades to define me, after all, not everything is black and white.
