Not all disabilities are visible. And anyone can become disabled at any point. It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that illnesses and injuries are also disabilities. My journey with post concussion syndrome has taught me that you NEVER know what someone is going through.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated around the world every year on December 3, in accordance with resolution 47/3General Assembly of October 14, 1992. Its goal is to promote the rights of people with disabilities in all spheres of public life, as well as to draw the attention of the general public to the problems of people with disabilities.

Adoption Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2006 was a logical continuation of many years of UN work in this area. BUT The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and a number of major global development strategies set the stage for further advancing the rights of persons with disabilities.

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
On June 11, 2019, Secretary General António Guterres announced the start of the implementation UN Strategies for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.

The United Nations Strategy for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities underpins sustained and transformative progress in mainstreaming the inclusion of persons with disabilities into all components of the work of the United Nations. Through The Strategy, the organizations of the United Nations system reaffirm that the full and full realization of the human rights of all persons with disabilities is an integral, integral and indivisible element of all human rights and fundamental freedoms.
