Zong is the only operator in Pakistan which acquired 4G licence for cellular services in the auction of 23rd of April 2014. Since then Zong is claiming to be the first and only 4G network of Pakistan.

Warid telecom didn’t take part in the auction, but later they announced to launch 4G on their existing network which is 4G LTE capable.

China Mobile (Zong) have asked the government of Pakistan and the regulatory body PTA to delay the permission process of 4G for Warid telecom.

China Mobile said that Warid should be allowed 4G only after Zong have launched it and it will take several months for China Mobile to install 4G network.

China Mobile told that it will take about a year for them to launch 4G in the Pakistan. They are already in talk with different companies to install 4G equipment for them. They said that Warid should be allowed 4G launch after two or three months when first Zong launches it.

3G / 4G Licenses !!

It's confirmed now that four local operators – namely Mobilink, Telenor Pakistan, Ufone and Zong (China Mobile Pakistan) – today
submitted sealed bids for the auction of 3G / 4G licenses, confirmed a statement issued by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.

PTA confirmed that Warid did not participate.
