This hadith warns that not paying Zakat is a grave sin. If a person hoards wealth and refuses to give the obligatory Zakat, that wealth will become a source of punishment on the Day of Judgment, symbolized as a frightening snake.

The message is that wealth is a trust from Allah, and paying Zakat purifies it and protects a person from punishment.
