SYC
Sculpted for living.
The idea behind the origami house originated from one of our architects fiddling with a piece of paper, folding it in a multitude of triangular shapes. We wanted to design a home around a sculpture, something that could stand bold in form, yet still feel deeply livable. The inspiration came from a single fold of paper, the elegance, the simplicity, the precision of origami. That idea became the DNA of the house.
The exterior staircase became our anchor, not just a way to move between levels, but a defining gesture. A folded bronze ribbon rising out of blood-red travertine walls, unapologetic, but graceful. Inside, we created a double-height lounge to let the space breathe, to feel open, yet connected. One of the core ideas was continuity; with indoor spaces flowing naturally into the outdoor landscape. The rear side of the property boasts an entertainer’s playground, with a massive backyard centered around an Olympic-length pool. Lightweight, sculptural floating installations were suspended above the outdoor lounging areas to allow for rhythm, shade, and visual poetry. Materials were chosen not just for luxury, but for their emotional weight. Everything was intentional.
The origami house is more than a residence. It’s a narrative of stillness, movement, and meaning shaped by discipline, but designed to be lived in fully. This is architecture that speaks softly, but leaves a lasting impression.
