Some stories don’t make headlines, but they change communities.

As we lead upto International Women’s Day, we recognise the role of women in cotton-growing communities in Pakistan. Through our Better Cotton Initiative Cotton work with NRSP - National Rural Support Programme in Dera Ghazi Khan, women farmers and workers are improving farming practices, participating in women-only learning groups, and accessing safer, more dignified work through Decent Work and leadership initiatives.

We are also supporting women to step into non-traditional roles in cotton farming, including marketing and participation in water (khaal) committees, strengthening their role in local decision-making.
At the same time, income diversification remains central to our approach. From livestock support and goat distribution to market linkages for women engaged in embroidery, these efforts are helping households build stable income beyond a single crop.
