Through strokes of a brush, he discovered solace and liberation from the Guantanamo shackles. Detained in 2002, Rabbani's identity was mistaken, falsely labeled as the notorious militant, Hassan Ghul. Locked away without trial, his art became a lifeline in the barren wasteland. In a mesmerizing exhibition, "The Unforgotten Moon: Liberating Art from Guantanamo Bay," Rabbani's raw creations intertwine with local artists' reinterpretations, amplifying his silent protest. Today, amidst curious gazes, Rabbani, wearing traditional attire, unveils his plans—a cookbook intertwined with memoirs, and a restaurant fueled by the taste of freedom. His artwork, steeped in hope and longing, defies the oppressive orange-clad existence he defied at Guantanamo.
