On July 2025, just this week, the Philippine Supreme Court delivered a ruling that declared the impeachment against Sara Duterte unconstitutional, intentionally neglecting her government malpractices and serious allegations.

On August 6, the Senate proceeded with a vote on archiving the article after the SC rendered the article null. The vote, carried by a 19-4-1 majority, effectively halted further proceedings due to Sara Duterte's alliances that cover most of the senators in the 20th Congress. Betrayal of public trust, misuse of CIFs, graft, and betrayal are not all, but only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her overall transgressions in the government.

This particular decision of the cowards inside the Senate signals a shift toward preserving "decorum" over proper and responsive checks and balances. Though the impeachment has been archived, the Supreme Court’s decision isn’t final. A pending motion for reconsideration from the House still remains. In theory, if the Court rescinds its ruling, the Senate could revisit the case.

It is for this reason that Anakbayan Fatima demands the revival of the articles of impeachment against Sara Duterte and calls on every Filipino to stand against impunity and hold the powerful to account! Our fight does not end in the archives. Impeach Sara now!
