From a continental perspective, Europe accounts for 51.6% of global hot chocolate exports, followed by Asia with 30.7%. Smaller but meaningful shares come from Africa (6.9%), North America (6.2%), Latin America and the Caribbean (4.4%), and Oceania (0.2%), led by Australia.

Historically, Europe’s dominance reflects its early industrial processing capacity and long-standing consumption culture. Asia’s growing share points to expanded manufacturing, regional demand, and deeper integration into global food value chains. Africa and Latin America, long associated with cocoa production rather than finished goods, are gradually increasing their presence higher up the export ladder.

Since 2018, the fastest growth has come from Indonesia (+107.4%), Malaysia (+65.2%), and Ghana (+56.1%), signaling a shift toward more geographically diverse participation in value-added food exports.
