Chippy, our eldest guardian dog of Cat crib has passed away yesterday.

Rescued in 2021 near the shelter, an abandoned and emaciated senior dog with bad mange. He had been ever so sweet and loyal since. Words cannot express how deeply distraught I was to only be informed about his passing, and not being able to be physically present during his burial. I did have to mentally prepare myself for this because of his declining health due to his already old age.

He was there before the shelter was even built. He was there when one of the cats escaped, he stayed with her until I arrived at the shelter, a gentle giant indeed. He was the reason why I started to rescue dogs even though it is innately more difficult than housing cats.

I am simply heartbroken. But this is what rescue is about, they make us their whole lives while we love them until their last breath. I am so lucky to have had you by my side, Chips.

Anyhow look at his amazing transformation. Love does wonders. I am sure you're a young pup again running across the rainbow bridge. If you get tired of waiting for me, please guide our ghost animals to the gates of heaven too for the meantime. Please watch over me too, Chippy. If your spirit remains lingering in the spaces that you once roamed around in, please don't think I am ignoring you. I just can't see you anymore!! 🥹
