“Sa Cavite nagsimula ang laban para sa kalayaan.”
Every year on March 22, Cavite celebrates Cavite Day, a reminder of an important moment in Philippine history called the Cavite Mutiny. This happened in 1872 when Filipino soldiers and workers protested after the Spanish government removed their benefits. The protest was quickly stopped, but it opened the eyes of many Filipinos to injustice and helped grow the spirit of nationalism. Because of this event, three Filipino priests—Mariano Gómez, José Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora were accused and executed, and they later became known as heroes.
Today, Cavite Day is not only about remembering the past but also about honoring the bravery of Caviteños. The province is known as the place where many fights for freedom began. Through simple programs and activities, people continue to celebrate their history and teach the younger generation the value of courage, unity, and love for the country.
