The Department of Education joins the international community in celebrating World Book and Copyright Day 2023 today, April 23, with the theme "Indigenous Languages!".

The Philippines, through the Department of Education, continues to support Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities in developing storybooks that are in the community's language to promote and strengthen reading and literacy especially in the primary grades.

Featured here are two storybooks produced by local IP communities in partnership with DepEd, and supported by UNICEF and the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL).

Our thanks to the Divisions of Angeles City and Zamboanga del Norte for sharing their material as samples of what are being undertaken in other DepEd divisions with IP communities in the country.

Bilang pakikibahagi ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon sa World Book and Copyright Day, narito ang tatlong librong maaaring basahin ng mga learners na nasa Elementarya.

Mahalaga sa Kagawaran na matuklasan ng kabataan ang kanilang pagkakahilig sa pagbasa.

Ilan ang mga librong ito sa mga angkop, tanyag, at kilalang likha ng mga Pilipinong manunulat at dibuhista.
