Remember the moment your mothers put you down and never carried you again? How neither of you knew that it would be the last time.
A mother's love isn't always through grand gestures. Sometimes it was also taking seeds out of our fruits, making sure we always had an umbrella with us, and trying to keep our food warm even if theirs turned cold.
Every school morning, there would be the aroma of warm breakfast filling the air, uniforms neatly arranged by tired hands that still choose to care for us, and lunchboxes with a hearty meal and a sticky note saying how much they love us and hoping that we enjoy the meal.
While growing up and being busy with learning how to live our own lives, our mothers are slowly growing old too, but their love for us remains constant.
Mothers were once children too, filled with hopes and dreams... so before letting another moment slip away with them, take the time to appreciate them and make this day truly special for the women who gave so much love before we even knew what love truly meant.
Happy Mothers Day! ๐ป๐ช

Every day, before the first rays of sun appear, workers dedicate their time and skills to keep businesses, communities, and the nationโs economy in existence. Yet, theyโre often overlooked despite their actions of functioning society.
Labor day does not exist simply to praise the hard work or offer gratitude to workers for a single day. It evolved from the struggle of workersโ who fought exploitation, poverty wages, and systems unsafe conditions from their labor while rejecting them basic rights and humane treatment.
The significance of Labor day is not merely a recognition, but accountability. It is to give special importance to the continuing fight for fair wages, considerate working conditions, and the protection of every workersโ rights.
Labor day is a reminder that workersโ rights were attained through the coordinated efforts of workers to overcome the face of exploitation and inequality. ๐ป๐ช

Tears, cheers, and applause filled the Jubilee Gymnasium on April 8 as 236 graduates of Saint Louis College of Solano Inc. (SLCSI) celebrated the culmination of their Senior High School journey. The ceremony also recognized Grade 11 students who excelled academically and actively contributed to school organizations, underscoring the theme โLouisian Graduates: Prepared to Lead with Competence and Character Grounded in Catholic Faith.โ
For many graduates, the journey was shared with parents, guardians, and loved ones who supported them through late-night assignments, challenging projects, and countless life lessons.
Charizze Julienne O. Derilon, the voice of the batch, reflected on this collective effort.
โBehind every step forwardโevery moment of strengthโthere were people who stood beside us, lifted us when we were tired, and believed in us even when we struggled to believe in ourselves,โ Derilon said.
Commencement speaker Ms. Marites D. Vitug, a 1971 SLS alumna, Rappler editor-at-large, and author reminded graduates that life is shaped as much by failure as by success.
โLearn from your failures, your environment shapes you, values matter, have courage, and love your work,โ Vitug said.
The celebration continued with performances, including the graduatesโ rendition of โBeautiful Goodbyeโ by Maroon 5, and the ceremonial pledge of loyalty to their alma mater, led by Elisha Jade T. De Guzman.
Grade 11 students were honored for their academic achievements and exemplary participation in school clubs and organizations. Senior graduates received prestigious awards, including Loyalty Awards, the Gerry Roxas Excellence Award, Bishop and Principalโs Awards, Leadership and Service Awards, and SSLG and Journalism Excellence Awards.
The ceremony also recognized teaching and non-teaching staff who dedicated years of service to SLCSI, highlighted by Ms. Nelia Castro, LPT, retiring after 35 years. The event was led by Rev. Fr. Victor M. Abijay, Ph.D., College President, along with Feliciano V. Malaque, Ph.D., School Principal, and Marissa G. Tiongson, MEd-EA, School Coordinator.
As the graduates leave the stage and step into the next chapter, the message is clear: they carry not just diplomas, but lessons, values, and the support of a community that believed in them from the very start. ๐ป๐ช

โIntelligence plus characterโthat is the goal of true education.โ โ Martin Luther King Jr.
Under the shining lights of the Jubilee Gymnasium, hearts beat with pride and anticipation as students from Grades 7 to 10, along with their parents, gathered for the Moving-Up Ceremony and Recognition. These hardworking students now reap the rewards they poured their blood, sweat, and tears into; these recognitions are not just medals, certificates, ribbons, or diplomas. They are symbols of sleepless nights, exhausting days, and moments of self-doubtโovercome through perseverance.
And now, they are about to take a step forward into another journey of their lives. There was laughter and even tears as they recalled shared memories and faced the bittersweet truth that some friendships will soon part as they take different paths. But this is not the end of the story; it is only the beginning of a new chapter, with more yet to come.
These youth, nurtured by Saint Louis College of Solano, Inc. (SLCSI), now stand at another milestone, growing into men and women of character. As they begin this wonderful new chapter, they carry not only knowledge but also values that will guide them throughout their lives. This is not The End, but A New Beginningโof dreams to be fulfilled and journeys yet to unfold.

Saint Louis College of Solano (SLCS) conducted its Moving-Up Ceremony for Grade 10 completers, which included the recognition of honor students from Grades 7 to 9, on April 8 at the SLCS Jubilee Gymnasium.
The ceremony centered on the conferment of completion to Grade 10 students, led by the school administration.
The completers were presented by Dr. Feliciano V. Malaque, PhD, School Principal, and formally accepted by Rev. Fr. Victor M. Abijay, PhD, College President.
The event featured a keynote address from guest speaker Atty. Jimmy N. Balmediano Jr., a certified public accountant and Public Attorney II.
He was introduced by Ms. Beatriz Ivy Liban, who cited his background in accountancy and management accounting, teaching experience, and service in government agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry and the Public Attorneyโs Office.
In his speech, Atty. Balmediano addressed the completers and spoke about the challenges they may face in reaching their goals.
โMy dear completers and awardees, always remember that life never promises shortcuts to success. Sometimes, may mga pagsubok na kailangang pagdaanan para matulungan tayo na i-unleash ang ating full potential.โ
Atty. Balmediano told the completers that achieving their dreams would require effort and persistence, noting that life does not offer shortcuts to success.
โIn the world we live in today, there are countless opportunities that await you. You have the freedom to pursue your dream profession, build a business empire, and maximize your talents to make changes. You can be influencers; you can be the next leaders of our generation. Tulungan niyo ang ating bansa, tulungan niyo ang susunod na henerasyon. And be that someone who you envisioned yourselves to be,โ he added.
The ceremony also included a message from Leila Love Bayun, the voice of the completers.
โYour memories are what build you, and you mustn't forget them. So from time to time, try to look back on every lesson you learned that helped you gain your place, on every support your family gave you, and on every moment you spent with your friends,โ Bayun said.
She also cited a quote from the movie The Little Prince, โGrowing up is not the problem, forgetting is,โ emphasizing her perspective on life.
โAnyway, I really want to focus on that quote and associate it with how I think life works. Kasi life is different for everyone, and my interpretation is just as important as yours. But this ceremony, this program, is something that you need to remember. Your accomplishments and your goals are things that you need to bring with you no matter where you go,โ she said.
Prior to the main program, honor students from Grades 7 to 9, accompanied by their parents, were also recognized for their academic performance.
Diplomas and medals were awarded to the students together with their parents, with the College President, Principal, guest speaker, and school coordinator leading the distribution. ๐ป๐ช

Every story we publish carries the voice of truth, courage, and purpose. As student journalists, we are not just writersโwe are witnesses, storytellers, and seekers of clarity in a world full of noise.
As this chapter closes, we honor the goodbyes that mark the end of a journey for our seniors, and welcome the turning of a new page for our juniors to continue the story. May every word we share continue to inform, inspire, and ignite change. ๐ป๐ช
