BFP La Union Firefighters Test Strength and Speed in Hose Carry Relay
Held at La Union National High School grounds, San Fernando City, the men and women of BFP La Union personnel demonstrated their strength, endurance, and determination during the Hose Carry Relay as part of their Physical Fitness Test.
Male and female firefighters sprinted a 50meter course while carrying fire hoses, completing the challenge impressively within 7 to 11 seconds. This activity tested not only their physical capabilities but also their discipline and teamwork โ essential traits in emergency response.
This physical preparedness among BFP La Union firefighters, ensures that every personnel remains fit, focused, and always ready to serve and protect the community at all times.

In a powerful step toward prioritizing the well-being of its personnel, the BBFP Region1 thru its BFP R1 Health Service Section in collaboration with the BFP Provincial Offices of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Pangasinan had formally coordinated with the following government hospitals to establish a meaningful partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)., to wit:

2. ๐ฝ๐๐ ๐๐ก๐ค๐๐ค๐จ ๐๐ช๐ง is aligning with ๐๐ก๐ค๐๐ค๐จ ๐๐ช๐ง ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ก ๐พ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐๐ง
3. ๐ฝ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐จ๐๐ฃ๐๐ฃ is coordinating with ๐๐๐๐๐ค๐ฃ 1 ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ก ๐พ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐๐ง in addition to Conrado F. Estrella Regional Medical and Trauma Center in Rosales.
This collaboration ensures that all BFP personnel assigned in each province will now have access to comprehensive medical services under the PhilHealth YAKAP Package, with BFP R1 Health Service recognized as a PhilHealth YAKAP-accredited provider. This initiative is a testament to the unwavering commitment of BFP Region 1 leadership to safeguard the health and welfare of its brave men and women in uniform.
By bridging public service and healthcare, this partnership not only strengthens institutional ties but also reinforces the core mission of the BFPโto serve and protect, starting with the well-being of its own. It is a shining example of how inter-agency cooperation can create lasting impact, ensuring that those who dedicate their lives to saving others are themselves protected and cared for.

In moments of uncertainty, the Bureau of Fire Protection Region 1 stands as a pillar of safety, compassion and unwavering service.
Following the 4.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Pugo, La Union with tremors felt in nearby Sto. Tomas, the BFP Regional Office 1 immediately opened its doors to those in need. Before accommodating the affected individuals, the BFP R1 building was promptly assessed by the designated Safety Officer to ensure its structural integrity and safety for continued use.
Several individuals who were injured, fainted or rendered unconscious during the quake were promptly attended to by the BFP R1 Health Service and Regional Office Personnel, who took swift action to provide first aid and medical assistance.
Among those who required medical attention were 15 students from Sto. Tomas National High School, who were immediately brought to the BFP Regional Office 1 for care and assistance. Out of these, three students were rushed to the nearest hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.
The dedicated personnel of BFP RHQ 1 ensured that each individual received the care, comfort and support they needed during this distressing event.
The BFP Region 1 remains steadfast โ ever ready to respond, to help and to serve.

BFP R1 Health Service Team
Look! The BFP Region 1 Health Service Team, headed by FSINSP BRYAN T FABRO, MD, Chief, Regional Health Service, together with FSINSP CLAPPER A OJASCASTRO, DMD, Chief, Dental Officer, and FINSP AILEEN D RIMANDO, Chief, Mental Health Unit, spearheaded a meeting on 07 October 2025 with the dedicated Health Service Staff.
The meeting focused on the upcoming Annual Medical, Physical, and Dental Profiling, as well as updates on ongoing health and wellness programs, accomplishments, and ongoing projects of the section all geared toward strengthening the well-being of every BFP personnel across the region.
This meeting aims to enhance coordination, strengthen camaraderie, and reaffirm the collective commitment of the Health Service Team to their mission: ensuring that every firefighter remains physically fit, mentally strong, and emotionally resilient.More than just a meeting, it was a renewal of purpose, a moment to reflect on how health truly defines readiness, and how the service of a firefighter begins with the heart that beats for others.
Together, the BFP Region 1 Health Service continues to champion a culture of care, wellness, and unity because in BFP Region 1, health is not just a priority, it is a shared responsibility.

Hypertension may be the โsilent killer,โ but through the BP Patrol Program, BFP Region 1 ensures that no firefighterโs health goes unchecked.
Under the supervision of FSINSP BRYAN T FABRO, MD, Chief Regional Health Service, our health service team continues its daily blood pressure monitoring to promote early detection, early treatment, and disease prevention among our personnel.
Because in BFP Region 1, we believe that a healthy firefighter is a ready and stronger firefighter โ Para sa Alistoโt Nagkakaisang Rehiyon Uno!
