✅Phycocyanin** is a blue pigment-protein complex found almost exclusively in **cyanobacteria (blue-green algae)**, such as **spirulina** (*Arthrospira platensis*) and some types of blue-green algae like *Aphanizomenon flos-aquae*.
✅✅Why?✅✅
👉Phycocyanin is unique to **cyanobacteria**, which are aquatic microorganisms, not land plants or animals.
- Regular plants use **chlorophyll** (green) and other pigments like **anthocyanins** (blue/purple in berries) but **not phycocyanin**.
- Animals do not produce or store phycocyanin.
