WINS MONITORING CONDUCTED AT VICENTA S. DAVID NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL FOR SY 2025–2026

On March 11, 2026, Vicenta S. David National High School successfully conducted the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools (WinS) Monitoring for the School Year 2025–2026. The activity was facilitated by Nurse Ara M. Aguilar, DepEd Nurse, who visited the school to assess and monitor the implementation of the WinS program and ensure that the standards set by the Department of Education are properly implemented within the school.

During the monitoring, the school’s Health Coordinator, Mr. John Michael R. Calderon, prepared and organized all the necessary documents, records, and supporting evidence required for the evaluation. These included documentation related to the school's sanitation facilities, hygiene practices, handwashing facilities, waste management systems, and other WinS-related initiatives implemented by the school.

The monitoring process involved checking the availability and condition of water facilities, proper sanitation and hygiene practices among students, and the effectiveness of the school’s implementation of health-related programs under the Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd (OKD). Nurse Aguilar also provided technical assistance and recommendations to further strengthen the school’s compliance with WinS standards and to sustain a safe, clean, and healthy learning environment for all learners.

The activity highlighted the school’s commitment to promoting health, sanitation, and proper hygiene practices among students and personnel. Through the continuous support of the school administration, faculty, and staff, Vicenta S. David National High School remains dedicated to maintaining a healthy school environment that supports the well-being and holistic development of its learners.

SAFE PLACE, SAFE MINDS: Strengthening Anti-Bullying Awareness and Promoting Mental Health

On February 16, 2026, Ms. Shella Mae B. Acaylar and Ms. Mariah Kristina A. Adim, OJT students from Laguna State Polytechnic University – Santa Cruz, Laguna, successfully conducted a meaningful and timely symposium entitled “SAFE PLACE, SAFE MINDS: Sama-Sama Kontra Bullying – A Symposium on Anti-Bullying Awareness and Mental Health Promotion.” The activity aimed to raise awareness about the different forms of bullying, its harmful effects on students’ emotional and psychological well-being, and the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive school environment.

The symposium gathered students who actively participated in the discussions, interactive activities, and sharing sessions prepared by the facilitators. The speakers highlighted the types of bullying physical, verbal, social, and cyberbullying and emphasized the long-term impact these behaviors can have on a learner’s confidence, academic performance, and mental health. They also discussed practical strategies on how students can protect themselves, report incidents properly, and become responsible bystanders who stand up against bullying.

Moreover, the activity promoted mental health awareness by encouraging learners to express their feelings, seek help when needed, and support one another with empathy and respect. The facilitators underscored that a “safe place” within the school fosters “safe minds,” where students can learn, grow, and thrive without fear. Through collaborative reflection and open dialogue, the symposium strengthened the students’ understanding that preventing bullying is a shared responsibility.
