Following the directive of Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to expand livelihood opportunities for vulnerable workers, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office I awarded a โฑ399,850 Chicken Egg-Laying Project to the Amarao Ladies Farmers Association of Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur, on July 14, 2026, benefiting 17 women farmers.
Previously relying mainly on seasonal farming, the beneficiaries now have an additional and more stable source of income through egg production. The livelihood assistance includes egg-laying chickens, production inputs, and basic enterprise training to help them manage and sustain their community-based poultry business.
Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga emphasized that the project is an investment in the beneficiariesโ future, giving them the means to earn steady income to support their families and have a livelihood they can sustain for the years to come.
The initiative reflects DOLE's continuing commitment to empowering vulnerable workers with livelihood opportunities that will benefit their families and communities. //Jenny/Sherwin

In support of the directive of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to aligning actions toward more effective and responsive delivery of labor and employment services, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office I (DOLE RO1) conducted its 2026 Mid-Year Performance Assessment (MYPA) and Re-Planning Exercise on July 15โ16, 2026 at Selah Vie Hotel and Resort, San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur, with the theme, "Delivering Outcomes through Leadership and Excellence: Unified, Networked, and Optimized (DOLE UNO) Public Service Delivery."
The two-day activity assessed the Regional Office's first semester performance and financial utilization, identified implementation challenges and opportunities, and recalibrated strategies and action plans for the remaining quarters of 2026. It also resulted in the formulation of the Regional Office's updated Action Plan, the 2026 Reformulated Work and Financial Plan, and the Second Semester Calendar of Activities.
Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga emphasized that the assessment and planning exercise demonstrates DOLE RO1's commitment to integrity, accountability, and transparency in public service. She encouraged all officials and personnel to remain united in achieving the Office's targets and in delivering responsive and efficient labor and employment programs for the benefit of workers, employers, and other stakeholders in the region.
Through the MYPA, DOLE RO1 reaffirms its commitment to continuously enhancing organizational performance and ensuring the effective delivery of quality and responsive public service throughout the second semester of 2026.
