HYPERTENSION AWARENESS MONTH ❤️🩺
May is a reminder for every Filipino to “Know Your Numbers” and take action against hypertension—a growing public health concern in the country.
Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is often called the “silent killer” because it may show no symptoms but can lead to serious conditions like heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems.
📊 In the Philippines, 1 in 10 adults (20–59 years old) has elevated blood pressure, and the risk increases with age.
In CAR, cases are rising—highlighting how lifestyle factors like poor diet, physical inactivity, and stress contribute to this growing burden.
🥗 Good news? Hypertension is preventable and manageable.
Simple daily choices can protect your heart:
✔ Reduce sodium intake (less than 2,000 mg/day)
✔ Limit processed and fatty foods
✔ Eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains
✔ Stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle
✔ Monitor your blood pressure regularly
💡 Small changes today can lead to a healthier tomorrow. Read the full article in the comments below. 👇

Phosphorus is one of the most confusing nutrients for people with kidney disease.
You might hear:
❌ avoid dairy
❌ avoid beans
❌ avoid nuts
❌ avoid chocolate (😢)
…but that’s only part of the story.
The biggest issue for many CKD patients isn’t natural phosphorus in foods.
It’s phosphate additives in processed foods.
And those are much harder for your kidneys to handle.
Learning how to spot them can make a huge difference.
