Nowadays, freelancing is very popular worldwide, and more people are diving into it.

Anyway, what is freelancing?

Freelancing means rather than being employed by someone else; you work as an independent company or business. Freelancers are self-employed individuals who are also known as independent contractors.

A freelancer is a self-employed worker paid on a per-job or per-task basis, typically for short-term and long-term work.

What prompted me to pursue this career path? Why become an online freelancer instead of working in an office? Below are some perks and benefits of being an online freelancer.

No traffic and no commutes. You work from home in your pajamas, shorts, and sando’s.

There is no age restriction. Educational background is a plus but not necessary. As long as you can get the job done, you are good to go.

Location flexibility. You can work anywhere as long as there is an internet connection and electricity. Well, this also depends on what kind of work you have.

Time freedom with a flexible working schedule. I usually get clients who are result-oriented. You can work anytime as long as you do not miss deadlines.

You are the boss. You have complete control over the type of clients and people you want to work with. You have the authority to refuse to work with difficult clients.

Multiple incomes. You can set your rate. Take several clients and projects at the same time. It will depend on your schedule and availability. Just make sure that the project output quality is good and finished on or before the deadlines.

Family Time. You can not miss special occasions like birthdays, Christmas or New Year. When I was still in the corporate world, I missed some of those. I even experienced being on duty during Christmas and New Year. As a family, we loved to be with them during those occasions.

For me spending more time with the kids and my family is the best perk as a freelancer.
