Meet the Empedrad Family from Tuguegarao City! ✨
Since beginning their hosting journey in 2024, the Empedrad family has experienced how welcoming someone from another culture into their home can lead to meaningful learning, deeper understanding, and genuine connection.
Through conversations about family, education, culture, and everyday life, hosting became an enriching exchange of perspectives that fostered mutual growth for everyone in the family. For them, the AFS experience truly reflects the spirit of brotherhood, love, and connection that brings people together beyond borders.

AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines proudly participated as an exchange organization during the EducationUSA University Fair Spring 2026 held last May 22, 2026 at the M.I.C.E. Center in Quezon City, and on May 23, 2026 at the University of Southeastern Philippines Social Hall in Davao City.
During the Quezon City leg of the University Fair, AFS Philippines staff welcomed students, parents, educators, and aspiring exchange participants at its booth to share more about the organization’s intercultural learning opportunities and international exchange programs. The team introduced AFS Philippines and its mission of developing active global citizens through cultural exchange, education, and volunteerism.
Participants who visited the booth learned more about available AFS programs in the United States, including opportunities for study abroad and cultural immersion designed for students and young people interested in expanding their global perspectives. Visitors were also given information on volunteer opportunities and ways they can become part of the AFS community through local and international engagement.
Meanwhile, during the Davao City leg of the fair, EducationUSA’s first University Fair in Davao, the AFS Philippines booth was manned by AFS alumni and volunteers who actively engaged with attendees and introduced available AFS programs, study abroad opportunities in the United States, and other international educational experiences. They also shared insights about intercultural exchange, volunteerism, and the different ways students and young people can become part of the AFS community.
Another highlight of both events was the presence of our active and dedicated AFS volunteers who served as part of the volunteer support team, assisting in various logistical activities to help ensure the smooth flow of the University Fair. Their efforts helped create an organized and welcoming environment for all attendees, and we are sincerely grateful for their dedication and support.
AFS Philippines extends its warm gratitude to EducationUSA Philippines for organizing the University Fair and for creating opportunities that help connect Filipinos to educational exchange opportunities in the United States.
