We look back on the 3rd Lourdes V. Lapuz (LVL) Memorial Lecture of the Department of Psychiatry of The Medical City, held on April 8, 2026 at 6-8PM:
“Meaning, Healing, and the Power of the Written Word: Dignity Therapy and Legacy Making in End-of-Life Care.”
Lecture was done by Dr. Kathryn-Daphne Ong, a psychiatrist, bioethicist, and psycho-oncologist, the session invited us to move beyond symptom management and into the sacred space of narrative legacy. Through Dignity Therapy, we reflected on how honoring and reframing a patient’s story can serve as a powerful, evidence-based pathway to healing that transcends physical decline.
As we share this glimpse of the event, may it continue to inspire us to care not only for our patients’ conditions, but for their stories, and the legacies they leave behind.
