LOOK | Ramadhan Kareem: “Spreading Compassion Through Free Iftar”

In the spirit of generosity and unity during the holy month of Ramadan, the Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit BARMM successfully conducted a Free Iftar Activity with the theme “Ramadhan Kareem: Spreading Compassion Through Free Iftar.” The activity aimed to share blessings and promote compassion within the community.

The meaningful initiative was led by LTJG ALFAHDZLY J ABIDIN PCG, Chief Nurse of the Nursing Service Sub-Unit BARMM, in collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary. This humanitarian effort was initiated through the support and leadership of CAPT ALIMUDIN K TUNGAN PCGA, DAD, CDR BERNARD R SERO PCGA, DAS, and LCDR BAI SITTIE G PAGAYAO PCGA, together with other dedicated personnel of Coast Guard District BARMM.

The activity was conducted under the leadership and guidance of COMMO REJARD V MARFE PCG, District Commander of Coast Guard District BARMM.

The activity was successfully held at Polloc Freeport Ecozone, Parang, Maguindanao, where personnel and members of the community gathered to share the evening meal for Iftar. The event symbolized unity, compassion, and the shared commitment of the Philippine Coast Guard and its Auxiliary to serve not only in maritime safety but also in community outreach and humanitarian service.

Through this initiative, the Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit BARMM reaffirmed its dedication to fostering goodwill, strengthening community ties, and promoting the true spirit of Ramadan generosity, compassion, and service to others.

LOOK | Janazah Training Conducted

The Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit BARMM, in collaboration with the 1601st Squadron BARMM and the Coast Guard Chaplain Service, successfully conducted a Janazah (Islamic Post-Mortem Care) Training as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen culturally competent, faith-sensitive, and humane care within the service.

This activity was conducted under the continuing guidance and full support of Commodore REJARD V MARFE PCG, Acting Commander, Coast Guard District BARMM, and under the continuing supervision of Commodore LYSAMAYRA MARIE N GAVAN PCG, Chief Nurse, Philippine Coast Guard.

The training aimed to equip Coast Guard personnel with the proper knowledge and practical skills in the respectful handling, preparation, and management of deceased Muslim individuals in accordance with Islamic rites and traditions. This initiative is especially vital in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), where cultural and religious sensitivity is essential in the delivery of effective humanitarian and medical services.

Through comprehensive lectures and hands-on demonstrations, participants gained a deeper appreciation of the religious, ethical, and cultural significance of Janazah—reinforcing the Coast Guard’s commitment to dignity, respect, and compassion in post-mortem care.

The activity further enhanced inter-unit coordination among medical, operational, and chaplain services, ensuring preparedness during emergencies, disaster response, and routine operations involving Muslim communities.

The Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit BARMM remains committed to upholding professionalism, respect for cultural diversity, and excellence in service in support of the Philippine Coast Guard’s humanitarian mandate.

LOOK | Orientation and Unit Guidance for Newly Assigned Officers

The Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit BARMM successfully conducted an Orientation and Unit Guidance for Newly Assigned Officers as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen professionalism, discipline, and mission readiness within the unit.

The activity featured a series of lectures and unit guidance delivered by ENS ALFAHDZLY J ABIDIN PCG, Chief Nurse, which covered the systematic organizational structure and framework of the unit, including the delineation of functions between the Administrative and Operations components of the Coast Guard Nursing Service. The lectures emphasized roles and responsibilities, command and staff relationships, standard operating procedures, and coordination mechanisms essential to effective nursing and medical support operations.

Further discussions highlighted leadership, teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct, reinforcing the importance of unity of effort in fulfilling the Philippine Coast Guard’s healthcare mission within the BARMM Area of Responsibility.

This initiative reflects the commitment of the Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit BARMM to developing competent, disciplined, and service-oriented officers dedicated to excellence in healthcare delivery and public service.

LOOK | Traditional New Year’s Call

The Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit BARMM paid a Traditional New Year’s Call to the District Commander, Commodore REJARD V MARFE PCG, as part of the time-honored Coast Guard tradition of paying courtesy and respect at the start of the year.

The visit served as an opportunity to convey New Year greetings, reaffirm commitment to duty, and strengthen unity and support between the District Command and the Nursing Service Sub-Unit in pursuit of quality healthcare services for Coast Guard personnel within the BARMM Area of Responsibility.
