The future of science and technology education officially arrived at Capangihan Elementary School in Tolosa, Leyte, during the STARBOOKS Users' Training and Orientation held on March 19, 2026. The session was expertly conducted by Engr. Silvestre V. Cabidog, Jr., Science Research Specialist I of DOST 8 PSTO Leyte, who introduced both teachers and students to the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosk System (STARBOOKS). This cutting-edge digital library, developed by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), serves as a "library-in-a-box," providing a wealth of information even without an internet connection. The activity was marked by a strong sense of collaboration, as our dedicated educators and eager learners explored the system’s features together under the guidance of Engr. Cabidog. Through comprehensive demonstrations and hands-on activities, the participants learned how to navigate the platform’s vast collection of materials, focusing on how these resources can enrich classroom instruction and inspire independent research.

The atmosphere was filled with genuine excitement, particularly among the students who showed an incredible eagerness to learn. Their curiosity was on full display as they discovered the wide range of interactive educational content available at their fingertips, while our teachers actively engaged in the training to master how this tool can be integrated into their daily lessons. The orientation concluded on a high note, leaving the entire school community empowered with new knowledge and a shared commitment to digital literacy. With the integration of STARBOOKS, Capangihan Elementary School is now better equipped to provide quality, research-based education, ensuring that our students and teachers remain at the forefront of scientific discovery.
