"Magandang araw, MABUHAY!"
A greeting that depicts Filipino Brand of Service which aims to perpetuate Filipino hospitality excellence.
Through the university's mission to uplift the quality of life of the people, dedicated faculty members of PalawanSU Oriental Cluster, particularly Roxas and San Vicente Campus, entered into a partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement with the Municipality of San Vicente, specifically the Office of Municipal Tourism. The collaboration of the campuses and the LGU of San Vicente paved the way to conduct an extension program entitled "Intervention Program for Hospitality Professionals in San Vicente, Palawan: Tourism Promotion Services" that aims to assist hotel and other accommodation owners, managers, and even staff members to adapt to the current needs of the tourist or guests. Furthermore, the program aims to help improve the professionals' skills in providing service to their clientele.
The extension program was based on the research conducted by Dr. Ma. Christine A. Guzman, Geraldine P. Jaud, and Ryan D. Tan, faculty of PalawanSU Roxas Campus, with the title "Impacts and Recovery Strategies Amidst CoViD-19 Pandemic: The Case of Hospitality Industry in Northern Palawan ( El Nido and San Vicente)" with the aim to help achieve SDG 8, 9, and 11.
The kickoff program was conducted last October 17, 2024, held at PalawanSU San Vicente Gymnasium. Various participants from different hotel and tourism industries, and students attended the program. Sir Frederick R. Caabay, Campus Director of San Vicente Campus was also present during the said event. Dr. Guzman, the Project Leader, spearheaded the implementation of the activity while other faculty members from both campuses helped facilitate the event. Sir Leimos Sisor, BSHM Program Head of Roxas Campus, served as the resource speaker and trainer on the different topics that participants really enjoyed.
The second and last session of the activity was conducted on November 7 & 8, 2024, held at Palmera Garden Inn, San Vicente, Palawan. The second session started with some greetings and messages and was followed by the assessment of the skills of the participants. Sir Sisor, together with the participants conducted simulations, and demonstrations, to evaluate their skills about their training last time. Moreover, Sir Sisor conducted Oral Interviews with the participants, and he also did some mentoring on how to further improve their service to the guests.
The third and last session started with the talk of Maam Aires A. Fulgarinas about "Customer Service".It was followed by the talk of Maam Gilda Jo-an G. Bandin about "Basic Communication Skills". In the afternoon, the activity continued with the talk of Sir Julius J. Javier Jr. who discussed about "Financial Literacy". Lastly, Prof. Ana N. Javarez discussed an interesting topic about "Stress Management in Work Setting".

The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies led by Maam Nieves S. Favila, Sir Marc Joseph A. Paalan, and the 3rd Year students conducted an extension program entitled "ComputerED: A Computer Literacy Training" focusing on developing the skills of Senior High School students at Abaroan National High School on basic computer.
The activity was made possible through the collaboration between the university led by Dr. Ramon M. Docto, University President, thru the campus led by Dr. Flornita N. Ferrer, and the Roxas Central District led by Sir Joseph J. Baluarte, Schools District Supervisor, thru Abaroan National High School led by Maam Sidney D. Saldevia, Principal II.
Before the said activity, the BSED 3rd Year students conducted a preliminary survey among the Senior High School Students of ANHS, leading to the conclusion that although many knew what a computer was, there were still several students that still needed to be trained regarding its basic parts as well as how to utilize some of the important applications such as Microsoft Offices.
The activity started with a simple program followed by an orientation regarding the activity's objective. It ended with a simple message and encouragement to the trainee to diligently attend every session.
In this matter, the office extends gratitude to the people behind the success of the said event, to Dr. Anabell A. Gacayan, Dean of Oriental Cluster, to Dr. Flornita N. Ferrer, Campus Director, Maam Nikki Rose F. Domael, Head of BSED Program, to Maam Nieves S. Favila and BSED 3rd Year Students, to Sir Marc Joseph A. Paalan, Campus NSTP Coordinator, to Dr. Joseph K. Baluarte, PSDS of Roxas Central District, to Maam Sidney D. Saldevia, Principal II of ANHS, and to those who were not mentioned. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Always stay tuned as the BSED continues to provide services to its clientele.
