Am I? Carrying the burden of the world, still trying to figure it out, we did not notice that day by day, we continue to grow from the child we used to be. We no longer wear playful pigtails, no longer lift heavy things to prove our strengthโ€”just a change of growing up slowly and quietly. But one thing remains constant, and that's the love of a father to their child, even if they are no longer the little child they held.

Before, we would often even invite our father to our tea parties, where we are the princesses. Often requesting a kitchen set, and giving them those plastic tea cups with nothing but our little hearts to offer. Though, our big wide eyes did not see the genuine love of a man who set the standard for everyone, and the hardship he endured to give us life we often dream of.

So, we talked to him about all our minds could think. Until, it fades when adolescence hits. The dumbness is still there, but it's different now. We say things we think are mature things to say, we express the burden of life we have now. As the magical things we often say before are long buried in the past, but the reality that slowly brings a difference in our lives.

Physically, yes. But being the boy that once looked up to the man of the house is still present inside. I am still looking up to the guidance of a father, who always taught me to face life with bravery in my heart. Where we no longer needed to โ€˜man upโ€™, but the acceptance of being myself for everyone.

The boy who once taught he's the bravest, carrying the strength of being the toughest. Now facing the battles that fathers used to shield against us. Aspiring to be them before, but now choosing independence as a new path laid before you. Though, we all know that they will be behind our stepsโ€”not to catch us this timeโ€”but to be the strength we needed.

Most especially this pride month, where my father proves strength can have a lot of forms. He accepts who I chose to be, who we chose to be. Because we are still the child he watched growing up, with every phase of childhood that brought us to becoming who we are today. Fathers who are willing to give their child sunshine they deserve.

As we continue to grow, we slowly see the reality of our fathers who sacrifice comfort in exchange for ours. Working day and night, eating alone in the kitchen at night, and deep sleep state they are in on weekends. It's subtle, unnoticeable due to our busier life, but it shows love beyond words.

A line that tells everything. In my perspective, since I was born, you taught me love with all my life and you the day I was born, you love me with all of your life. Dad, Papa, Daddy, Tatay, and to all fathersโ€”you are the happiness with every joke you make, you are Bob the builder with everything you fix, and you are the man who loves me all throughout.

So, to every child out there, you may be a big girl, boy, or whoever you want to be, you'll always be the child that your father once held in his armsโ€”accepting you growing up, but forever his little child.

Learners from neighboring schools actively engaged in a meaningful historical encounter today as the โ€œKaraban ng Kasaysayan para sa Kabataan Year 3โ€ brought the life and legacy of Dr. Josรฉ Rizal closer to the youth through an interactive, learner-centered commemoration of his 150th birth anniversary at the Book Nook of SM North EDSA.

Organized by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines in partnership with SM Cares, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Department of History, Book Nook, and Maynilad, the program gathered students from San Francisco High School and Quezon City Science HS for a shared exploration of reformist thinkerโ€™s enduring influence on Filipino identity and nation-building.

Through discussions and educational activities, participants explored the continuing relevance of Rizalโ€™s ideals and writings in addressing contemporary social issues and shaping civic responsibility among the youth.

Gina C. Batuhan, Chief of the Historic Sites and Education Division of the NHCP, also emphasized the deeper purpose of the gathering, noting that it goes beyond remembrance and calls for collective responsibility in sustaining the nation.

โ€œGathering here is not just a simple remembrance, but a shared commitment to keeping this nation alive,โ€ Batuhan said.

The program forms part of ongoing efforts to promote historical consciousness and encourage students to appreciate the role of history in understanding present-day challenges and national development.

Once upon a time, an eagle was taken captive. Its wings were wrapped in chains, and without the freedom to soar, its world was shrank to the narrow bars of a cage. Yet even in confinement, the eagle never abandoned its fight. Days slipped into weeks, weeks into decades, and decades into centuries. For 333 years, it carried the weight of captivity. Then, at last, bloodied and battered by time but never defeated, the eagle unfurled its wings and flew again.

Exactly 128 years have passed since the declaration of the Philippinesโ€™ independence from Spain. Since then, the day is celebrated nationwide as the Philippine Independence Day. The celebration serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made to achieve this countryโ€™s freedom.

Amid recent controversies and scandals surrounding the government, the significance of independence becomes more relevant than ever. This day reminds the people of their freedomโ€”their freedom to demand accountability; their freedom to ask for better; their freedom to take part in the country that gave them their freedom.

This day doesnโ€™t just remind us of the past and how we got to where we are nowโ€”it also reminds us that we are, in fact, free. As Filipinos, we have powerโ€”we do not have chains that constrain us anymore. We can ask, participate, and aspire for better because we are no longer subjects, but citizens.

For a long time, the eagle struggled to believe that it was truly free. However, after flying around the lands, it finally dawned on the eagle that there really are no chains around its wings anymoreโ€”it is now able to fly freely, unrestrained and independently.

President Ferdinand โ€œBongbongโ€ Marcos Jr. pointed to the reconstruction of San Francisco High School as evidence of what government projects can achieve when public funds are properly utilized, as he inspected newly completed buildings nearly a year after a fire devastated portions of the campus.

During his visit on Thursday, Marcos said the rapid completion of the facilities demonstrated the impact of directing resources toward infrastructure projects that directly benefit communities, particularly students.

โ€œAs long as the money goes to the project and not into peopleโ€™s pockets, this is what we can achieve,โ€ Marcos said.

Accompanied by Education Secretary Sonny Angara, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Principal IV Dr. Marissa Lou N. Rodriguez, and representatives from SM Prime Holdings Inc., Marcos Jr. personally inspected the new facilities and emphasized the importance of ensuring that education continues without delay.

Among the projects completed was the replacement of the 45-year-old DAO Building with a four-storey structure equipped with upgraded safety and accessibility features.

Narra Building, meanwhile, was likewise renovated through a partnership between the Department of Education and SM Prime Holdings, Inc., and was inaugurated as the Henry Sy Sr. Hall.

School officials said the additional classrooms helped address congestion and enabled SFHS to return to a regular class schedule after months of operating under a shifting arrangement brought about by classroom shortages.

Principal Rodriguez welcomed the completion of the projects, noting that the new facilities allowed students to attend classes under a single schedule once again.

โ€œWeโ€™re very happy and grateful [to the government and] Henry Sy, for the two buildings which resulted in us having one schedule of classesโ€ฆ,โ€ Rodriguez said.

The reconstruction was completed approximately eight months after the fire, ahead of the target completion date set by implementing agencies.

Thereโ€™s a game that almost everyone participates in every yearโ€”especially people with dreams.

It was the first day of school again, and a flash of anxiousness crossed my face briefly. I took a deep breath once more: I had to return to the game I had never dared to play with confidence. As I logged back after vacation, I wondered what this new playthrough would bring.

It was June 8 when I started to adjust to the game. My character felt a little dusty, having been left untouched the moment vacation started. Characters in this game can usually wear a white button-up blouse or polo for the top, paired with black slacks or a folded skirt for the bottom. An ID as an accessory that identified a playerโ€™s profile, while a bag functioned as an inventory where collected resources and necessities were restored. I still remember my character build, even if some details faded during the break.

After customizing my character to my liking, I was ready to re-enter the world again. I stepped into the server, which revealed San Francisco High School. It was the base I transferred into, a place that helped me navigate not only our campus but the future I hoped to build. The base was vast, surrounded by buildings yet softened by nature. Among everything it offered, my favorite spots were the small benches scattered around the grounds that served as save points where I could restore my health, stamina, and sanity before facing another side quest.

Before the game fully loaded, my screen showed a bar indicating an upgrade. It seemed I had advanced to a new level. With that came the need to improve my skills matched to my new level and adapt to the unfamiliar setting I once navigated with ease. I am now faced with an update to the new system, with the Department of Education (DepEd) releasing DepEd Order Series No. 009, 2026, implementing a three-term academic calendarโ€”a total of 201 in-game days required before advancing to the next level.

With the new update rolled out across the server, I turned my focus to the main quest, which has always been academic work. Quizzes, essays, reporting, and periodical examinations remain the main core of my character, requiring me to reach the quota score to ace each one of them. I expected the obstacles to become tougher, which makes upgrading a little more demanding.

But no player levels up using the same approach to different problems, right?

To progress, I have to manage my resources wisely, gather knowledge, and earn enough experience to be at the top of my game. After all, the latest patch not only altered the calendar; scoring system also changed, with the revamped table already revised to improve and reach the goals that every player hopes to achieve.

At the end of every completed objective lies a reward. My efforts, choices, and presence may be acknowledged, and even if not publicly, I can still tell myself that I survived. I finished a quest that some do not even begin, which gave me experience points in courage along the way, enough to continue a journey that offers possibility rather than certainty.

Once I finish the main quest, I will level up once more and move to meet and adapt to new environments, settings, and challenges. I will have to start re-learning again. Complete objectives again. Adjust my character again, yet all those โ€˜Againsโ€™ only prove that I have been through things that shaped me to attain the next level. Each level serves as a stepping stone to reach the dream of becoming.

Looking now at the screen in front of me, there is still no map revealing what lies ahead, no walkthrough, and no spoiler for the future waiting beyond this stage. I have to navigate the new level with the profile I built in the last level, which will help me in the side quest that will make my game life happier and my main quest doable to finish.

It may be hard to dare to play the Game of School because itโ€™s a reality, but this version is Again, reminding the cost of returning, yet also a chance to begin a fresh playthrough after vacation.

Classrooms sprang back to life at San Francisco High School earlier today as students and teachers reconvened for the opening of School Year 2026โ€“2027, signaling the resumption of academic and campus activities.

Opening-day exercises commenced at the covered court, where Grade 7 learners gathered for a flag ceremony led by the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) under the supervision of adviser Jim Sison.

While incoming JHS students participated in centralized activities, Senior High School learners proceeded directly to their assigned classrooms to begin homeroom sessions.

The gathering marked the return of regular campus operations following the academic break, with school personnel and student leaders overseeing activities to ensure an orderly start to the new school year 2026-2027.
