After a long hiatus, we decided to stop and quit. Life is often weird. There is always a job to do, work that is building up, people to see, connections to maintain, and deadlines to meet.

We are quitting because we need to focus on other things, start a new season, fulfill a new responsibility, and sew a new project.

Here are five reasons why giving up and taking a break are okay.

1. Pause to discern what matters
Essentialism is a book that I am currently reading. The author points out that instead of reacting to what’s more pressing, we should pause and take time to pray. Most things are trivial, but few are vital, so always choose your battles.

Our lives and the pursuit of our aspirations are marathons, not sprints, so it's critical that we pace ourselves rather than race ahead because this can quickly result in burnout.

2. Evaluate what we have accomplished
It’s always a good idea to track your progress because an unexamined life is a life not worth living.

Hitting the stop button will give you time to reflect on your progress while you're still pursuing your dreams.

3. Celebrate our victories
Celebrate small wins no matter how little they may have been.

4. Learn from our mistakes
We sometimes make mistakes throughout our journeys that we don't realize until we look back upon them. In light of this, we ought to view our setbacks as opportunities for growth rather than as causes for disappointment.

5. Check our future direction
The future is bright for you and me. I dare you to start that creative project that you’ve been thinking about or that masterclass that you’ve always wanted to attend. Invest in yourself.
