Faculty members of the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (BSM) Program of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) actively participated in the Computational Science Summer School 2025 (CSSS2025) on Optimization and Modelling in Finance and Bioscience. The event was held on February 17-25, 2025, at Silpakorn University, Nakhon Pathon, Thailand.

The conference gathered experts, researchers, and scholars from 15 institutions across seven countries: China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Germany, and Thailand. The event served as a platform for academic exchange and collaboration, featuring cutting-edge research in pure and applied mathematics.

Other than DOrSU, four universities from the Philippines also participated in the event: Caraga State University (CSU), University of the Philippines Baguio (UP Baguio), University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos (UPLB), and University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD).

DOrSU was well-represented by Dr. Emmanuel B. Barbas, Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering, and Technology (FaCET), along with Dr. Rodrigo A. Salimaco, Jr., Program Head of BSM, and esteemed BSM faculty members Dr. Danilo O. Jacobe, Ms. Nikka Agbas-Singh, and Mr. Algasher B. Ato.

CSSS2025 featured a series of special talks and invited lectures by esteemed experts from different international universities. Distinguished discussions included topics on dynamical modeling for biomedical sciences, financial mathematics, deep learning applications in optimization, and experimental design in biochemistry. Among the keynote speakers were Prof. Yongwimon Lenbury from the Centre of Excellence in Mathematics, Thailand; Prof. Parin Chaipunya from King Mongkutโ€™s University of Technology Thonburi, Thailand; and Dr. Ekaterina Kostina from Heidelberg University, Germany.

Dr. Salimaco presented his research titled "๐˜”๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ ๐˜๐˜ฎ๐˜ฎ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜บ ๐˜๐˜ช๐˜ณ๐˜ถ๐˜ด (๐˜๐˜๐˜) ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ด ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜—๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜‹๐˜ข๐˜ท๐˜ข๐˜ฐ ๐˜–๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฉ ๐˜ˆ๐˜•๐˜• ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ˆ๐˜™๐˜๐˜”๐˜ˆ," contributing valuable insights into the application of artificial neural networks in disease forecasting. Additionally, Dr. Jacobe and Ms. Agbas-Singh showcased their research through poster presentations on "๐˜ˆ ๐˜Š๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฆ ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ป๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ" and "๐˜‰๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜จ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜Ž๐˜ข๐˜ฑ: ๐˜ˆ ๐˜Š๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฑ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ฆ ๐˜ˆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜บ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ด ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜›๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜•๐˜ฆ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜•๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ธ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฌ ๐˜™๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜”๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜—๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜œ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜บ ๐˜Œ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ต ๐˜—๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜š๐˜œ๐˜ˆ๐˜š๐˜› ๐˜Œ๐˜น๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ," respectively.

Beyond attending lectures and research presentations, the DOrSU faculty engaged in academic immersion activities, observing an independent learning-based time series analysis class and visiting Silpakorn University's mathematics and statistics laboratories. These experiences offered insights into innovative teaching, advanced computational tools, and potential research collaborations.
