# # # INSPIRATIONAL STORY

David had carried painful memories from his childhood for many years. Growing up in a troubled home had left emotional scars that he rarely spoke about.

Although he had built a successful life as an adult, certain memories still brought sadness and anger. One afternoon during a parish retreat, David entered the church for quiet prayer. Near the altar stood the familiar icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

He sat quietly in the pew and stared at the image of Mary holding the child Jesus. Something about that image touched him deeply. The child Jesus clung to Mary’s hand with trust, and Mary held Him gently with protective love. For the first time in years, David allowed himself to bring his childhood pain into prayer.

“Mother Mary,” he whispered, “please heal the wounds I still carry.”

Over the following months David continued praying regularly. Slowly, through prayer and spiritual guidance, his heart began to soften. Bitterness gave way to forgiveness. Pain slowly transformed into peace. David realized that Mary’s loving care extended even to the hidden wounds we carry for years. And through her intercession, God’s healing grace can reach even the deepest parts of the human heart.

O Mother of Perpetual Help,
tender guardian of wounded hearts,
I bring before you the pain of my past.

You know the memories that still hurt
and the wounds I carry within.
Place your loving hand upon my heart
and lead me toward healing.

Intercede for me before your Son
so that His mercy may restore my soul.
Help me forgive those who have hurt me
and release the burdens of the past.

Fill my heart with peace and hope.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
heal the wounds I place before you. Amen.
