𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿:

Professor 𝗥𝗮𝘆𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 is Dean of the College of Education and former Dean of the College of Computer Studies of De La Salle University, Manila. He is a recipient of the national-level Outstanding Teacher award from the Metrobank Foundation, and the Outstanding Young Scientist award from the National Academy of Science and Technology of the Philippines. A holder of a PhD in Computer Science (learner modeling by multistrategic machine learning) from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and a PhD in Education (grounded theory of presidential leadership of highly effective HEIs) from the De La Salle University, his scholarship of integration and engagement lies at the nexus of technology, learning, and service. He is currently leading two major projects: Distacasting, which involves the development of a curricular and pedagogical framework and a corresponding set of mathematics, science, and English lessons and learning materials for distance and remote learning via datacasting (which is the delivery of IP content using television broadcast signals); and QuERST (/kwɜrst/), which involves rapidly improving the quality of education in resource-challenged schools through technology-enhanced teacher professional development, student tutoring, student learning, and parental engagement.

𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:

Gamification in education generally refers to the use of game elements to increase learner engagement. This workshop will present a conceptual framework and set of processes and guidelines for gamification in education. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to decide the level of granularity and integration of gamification that they would like to achieve, and design a solution to achieve this goal.

This 7-hour virtual workshop will be held on September 30 (1:30-5:00pm) and October 1 (1:30-5:00pm). Participation in this workshop will be 𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 30 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨. We would like to have a diverse set of committed participants.
