Entry 1:

Got these two AVR compacta last july 2021 from Prickly Beauties and decided to do a litte experiment. I planted these in the same soil mix, but used different top dressings: one with corn-sized pumice, other with coarse grade kiryuzuna. Same garden location and watering schedule.

January 2022:
At first the rate of growth is similar. So far, the only difference I noticed is that the one with kiryu got wrinkes faster than the one with pumice. Lets see again after several months.

Aloe marlothii

Bought a seedling last April from Prickly Beauties that had 4.5 leaves (0.5 because the middle leaf was growing and still small). Planted it in a small pot (2.75 inch top diameter) because I wanted to see if it will grow into a compact version

After a few weeks it showed signs of growth, then I placed it on the rain-or-shine area.

And it GREW SO FAST.

Now it has 10 leaves that are so spiky and chubby, bottom leaves squashed down, and new leaves sprouting every time it rains.

Most cuttings have already started rooting

With included Mammillaria pup 😉
