The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) are now investigating a Molotov bomb explosion that occurred at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 open parking area at 9:39 AM, on Saturday, Sept. 23.
Police are gathering information regarding the identity of the person responsible for throwing the explosive.
Several parked vehicles, including a Toyota Fortuner with plate number NCL 6610, Toyota Rush with plate number NEV 2485, and Mazda Tribute with plate number NBI 716 were damaged by the explosion.
In the initial report, Aviation policeman P/Corporal Manuel Supan, duty patrol at the arrival curbside said he received information that there was an explosion at the open parking area so he immediately responded to the area to verify the information. At 10:05 AM, Supan reported the incident to duty TOC and informed the SDO to secure the area.
AVSEGROUP together with members of the Special Operation Unit and SOCO of the PNP arrived and cordoned off the area, conducted paneling and clearing operations, and other procedures for crime scene investigation.
No fatalities or injuries were reported due to the blast.
