Aircraft Instrument Landing System ( ILS)

The Instrument Landing System (ILS) Serves as a crucial navigation aid for pilots operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). It furnishes precise vertical and horizontal guidance , allowing safe landings,especially in limited visibility conditions. By transmitting signals to cockpit instruments,the ILS enables pilots to follow a predetermined course to reach the runway.

Marker Beacons and Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) associated with the ILS provided additional information on the distance to the runway.
