Another nutrient that plays a role in bone and joint health is omega-3 fatty acids. Condon said omega-3 fatty acids are important to prevent joint injuries and have anti-inflammatory properties. In a study published in The Journal of the American College of Nutrition, people who were given fish oil supplements experienced less joint pain and swelling than those who were not.
