Manila, Philippines – In anticipation of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, by authority of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., has issued Proclamation No. 766, declaring Thursday, January 9, 2025, as a special (non-working) day in the City of Manila.

The proclamation aims to ensure the smooth conduct of the traditional celebration, which is expected to draw millions of devotees to the Quiapo Church and surrounding areas. The Feast of the Black Nazarene is one of the most significant religious events in the country, marked by a grand procession symbolizing the deep faith and devotion of Filipinos.

The special non-working day designation allows city authorities to focus on maintaining order during the procession and managing traffic flow in the densely populated capital. The City of Manila had formally requested the declaration to facilitate better coordination and ensure the safety of participants and the public.

The proclamation underscores the importance of the event to Filipino heritage and the government's support for cultural and religious traditions.
