With Gantimpala Theater's enchanting productions telling the timeless tales of our national hero Jose Rizal, I thought I was well versed in "El Filibusterismo." The magic of theater once again captivated me as I walked into the hallowed halls of St. Scholastica College to see ARTIST PLAYGROUND and Gantimpala Theater's production.
Directed by Andre Tiangco, this rendition of "El Filibusterismo" breathed new life into a story etched into the very fabric of our nation's history. As someone who has cherished Gantimpala's versions since childhood, it was a revelation to witness the tale unfold anew, each scene pulsating with raw emotion and unbridled passion.
What truly warmed my heart, however, was seeing the next generation of theater enthusiastsโstudentsโimmerse themselves in the story with fervor. Their cheers and boos echoed through the auditorium, a testament to the power of storytelling to ignite conversation and spark change.
"El Filibusterismo" is a journey of rediscovery, a testament to storytelling's enduring power, and a celebration of our nation's heritage. As someone who grew up with Gantimpala's renditions, it serves as a poignant reminder that theater magic can always reveal something new, regardless of how familiar a story may seem.

I was invited to watch Dulaang UP's ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐'๐ง ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐๐๐ข closing show a while ago. As I was reading the playbill there was a page made solely for a study about the "Male Gaze".
The play is based on texts "Medea, Antigone, The Suppliants and Trojan Woman" by Euripedes which on these classic plays, women are portrayed dependent on men, some submissive but mostly because it is to maintain balance and peace. But when a woman resists on mistreatments and fights the stereotype they are more likely castigated unfairly.
But watching this scenes unfold on anecdotes and monologues the play showcased. I ask this question.
"Parang may kilala akong ganitong babae?
After the play the theater group announced a comeback of the century!

T'was a very magical afternoon awhile ago at Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez. Finally had the chance to photograph Wincess' portrayal of Susie of Tanghalang Pilipino's Sandosenang Sapatos.
People are crying, I can also see kids sobbing and hugging their parents. (I have evidence! HAHAHA)
Congratulations to all casts, crew everyone involved in this spectacular show.
To those people who missed it. There was a surprise performance after the show and no, I'm not talking about the gracefully sung acapella by the cast members outside. Basta!
