ELY BUENDIA (Eleandre Basiño Buendia; a.k.a. Jesus "Dizzy" Ventura; b.1970) is a multi-talented musician and choreo director who gained fame as guitarist, songwriter/composer and lead vocalist of popular rock bands. His compositions gained massive success and critical acclaim, topping various music charts. He currently performs as guitarist and lead vocalist for the indie-soul band, Apartel.
He finished High School at the University of Perpetual Help, Rizal. He also studied in the University of the Philippines where he initially formed Bluidie Tryste, Sunday School and the Eraserheads bands.
Ely gradually gained a legacy in The Philippines' pop culture. He was associated with the Mongols, Pupil, Oktaves, Itchyworms bands; and, worked with OPM's Bests like Pepe Smith, Aiza Sequerra, Charice Pempengco and most especially with the famed rapper, Francis Magalona whom he fondly shared charity works for the Heartlist Foundation, Inc.
He strongly supports PETA's campaign to free "Mali" from captivity in Manila Zoo and have her moved back to Boon Lott's Elephant Sanctuary in Thailand.
Moreover, Ely spoke eloquently on his transformation into being a better youth with the life-changing benefits he gained from wholesome involvement in service projects and leadership activities in the International Order of DeMolay. He served as Master Councilor (head) of A.Mabini Chapter, Parañaque City and has received the Chevalier honors, one of the highest citations in the DeMolay degree system.
He once co-owned 70's Bistro in Quezon City, where the famous Eraserheads piano was kept. He was born in Naga City, the second child of Ely Revilla Buendia of Goa, Camarines Sur and Lisetta Ruiz Basiño of Caramoan, Camarines Sur.
